About me
I don't necessarily **love** to cook, but I do enjoy it. I'm 43 & love traveling, photography, & reading. I was born'n'raised in southern West Virginia & have lived in CA's San Fernando Valley, Detroit MI, & Columbus OH. Due to my mom's ill health, I have recently returned to my home state to care for her. Having lived in three bigger cities since I was 19, it's a strange kind of culture shock being back in WV again, but home is home no matter what, right?!! LOL - Being a healthy southern soul food foodie simply means that I "reconstruct" some of the recipes that I grew up with...I season my beans & greens with smoked turkey legs and/or wings instead of ham hocks or smoked pork neck bones (I don't eat pork 'cuz it really does cause swelling..at least for me anyway!), and I use very little salt (if any) when cooking (I tell folks right off to season it at the table to their own liking..AFTER they've eaten half of it!) I'm hoping to try my hand at a cajun deep-fried turkey this Thanksgiving (I tried it for the 1st time at a cousin's last summer & I was just absolutely BEYOND hooked; it was so juicy & flavorful!)

Hi Recipeguru, thanks for the invite!

Hey there...I just saw, by accident, really, your comment on Ronny's water recipe...I'm happy if I made you smile, even a bit...nobody's piped up to actually help me solve my dilemma, you might have noticed, but if it got even one smile, it did what was intended. Have a great day! :)

Welcome! There's lots of good food and friendly people here!

Thanks for being my cooking buddy.

Thanks for the invite, I'm looking forward to sharing recipes with you.

Recipeguru, as I backed out of your homepage, I caught your blurb about loving carrot cake...thought I would give you a heads up on an INCREDIBLE carrot cake I tried from this site, with a buttermilk glaze (it becomes like a caramel sauce as it cooks)...it's from Zena - called My Best Carrot Cake...a few of us have made it and posted pictures - an absolute DEVINE carrot cake that is the best one I've ever tasted...check it out!
Here's the link, since Zena actually has 2 post with that name: http://www.grouprecipes.com/10935/my-best-carrot-cake.html

The praline cheesecake is dangerous for ME because I have no willpower! Thanks for commenting, and I hope you enjoy...Krum
PS - and thanks for the invite - glad to accept and share recipes!

Hello Recipeguru, I am so very glad that you came across my Pineapple Pound Cake recipe! I have lost recipes, then found them again, and it's like finding a treasure.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment about this wonderful recipe, and thanks for the tip on adding rum to the icing. Enjoy again. :)
