About me
Found this site looking for recipes for chorizo and salami and hopefully to utilise some of my venison I live in the small town of Kokstad (South Africa) on the border between the provinces of KwaZulu/Natal and Eastern Cape. I'm trained as an agriculturalist and have spent the last few years developing a no-tillage system of mealie (maize / corn) production for the small scale farmers. I have always liked cooking and baking but very much an intermediate cook. I can read a recipe book like a novel. I however have to control myself from buying too many of the things. There are some that I have neveer prepared a single dish from. Having been raised on a farm, we have always hunted and slaughtered which has lead me to an interest in doing things with as much as possible of the animal. My first target will be to focus of the traditional braai (barbeque) . A braai in South Africa is a "ritual" and not just a meal.
