    Sometimes mine would turn out like taffy, the kids called it "spoon candy"
    Then I found the problem was caused by using sugar from sugar beets.
    I started using pure cane sugar and the problem went away.

    I'm so excited to find this recipe, my ex-mother in law used this as her homemade fudge recipe for years, fondly named Nanny's Fudge by the family. I used to call her every christmas, but since she passed, I haven't been able to make it! Then I remembered that she told me years ago that her recipe came off the back of hershey's cocoa can :) Thanks so much, the family will be pleasantly surprised this christmas to have Nanny's Fudge again!

    I've recently discovered that if you add about 1/2 cup of cornmeal (all purpose or self rising) to the flour and spice mixture, the batter sticks better and the chops brown up much better. They're awesome this way!! Of course, everyone has they're own taste, so it will depend on how you like them.

    To make 'blonde' fudge, just follow the Hersheys Rich Cocoa Fudge and leave out the cocoa. My mother would always make both, the 'blonde' was for me, it was my favorite.

    Sallyjo,I am so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. A long time ago I lost a 15 month old son and it is a very hard thing to get over. Matter of fact is you don't get over it,you learn to live with it. May God keep you in his hands and give all of you the strength you nee. You are in my prayers.

    Hi Sallyjo and thank you for your quick reply. I do the same as you with adding 1/2 stick or so of butter. I always find it needs that little extra and the butter does it for us. Thanks again.
