LOVE THIS POST AND BEING A PIE LOVER CANT WAIT TO TRY THIS. YOU MAY WANT TO TRY MY AMISH APPLE PIE. I MAKE IT AROUND 10 FOR THANKSGIVING. IT IS HUGEEEEEEE AND IT IS FULL OF APPLES, HEAVY CREAM AND A GREAT CRUMB TOPPING. IT TASTES ALMOST LIKE A CARMEL APPPLE PIE. I HOPE YOU TRY IT SOME DAY. THANKS FOR A GREAT POST.

Hello Suzy, and welcome! Thanks for your comment on the Southern Secret Appetizer. PICTSWEET makes frozen chopped onions in a bag, and that is what I use. I believe when the recipe originated, frozen onions were available, and it made it easier to make (didn't have to chop!). However, it could be that the person who created the recipe froze onions to be used later! :) I just don't know. Anyway, I think that fresh ones would be fine. Happy cookin'.
