I switched and used pineapple cake mix and omitted the almond extract and it was fantastic. The combination of pineapple, pistachio pudding & cinnamon nut mixture is heavenly! I always get rave reviews when I bring this one to a church potluck. The batter is very thick, but worth the extra effort.

this wont actually fix the problem, but you could have piped whipped cream around the edge and no one would be able to notice. haha : )

Sorry you had trouble with the blitzes. I double checked recipe and I wrote it down just like they had it. I do notice that sometimes the different brands of cottage cheese makes a difference. Sometimes I use ricotta and that is dryer. I know the blitzes I used to buy in Detroit were kind of bland.. so I thought that was the way they were meant to be...

Again sorry... It took me this long to get back to you as I have not been coming on often..

Thanks for checking out the pina colada pie! I'm not a huge cool whip fan, either, but, it stuff like that I can go with it. lol I would think that it would need the same amount of real whipped cream, 8 oz. I have never checked the measurements, but I would think 8 oz of whipping cream yields 8 oz of whipped cream. That's just my best guess, though! Hope you get to try it.
