About me
Hi, I'm a single gay guy just learning how difficult it is to cook for one. I'm rushing into middle age, learning how to make enjoyable food healthful (and vice versa). In the warmer months my diet is heavy with vegetables, in the colder months I gain weight. Here in the Pacific Northwest of the US spring is approaching and I'm eating lots of salads. I've always had a romantic obsession with picnics and eating outdoors. On a hot summer night with no plans, I'll pack my supper and head to the beach. I'll admit to a girly obsession with this recent bento fad. A whole cult devoted to picnic type foods! I used to be a part owner of a small pizza restaurant, and I've been cooking since i was 8 years old. I've taught myself how to make homemade hand dipped chocolates. I have an embarrasingly large collection of cookbooks. I'm interested in the historical aspects of food (historical foods and methods of different cultures, food preservation), I'm also obsessed with tradional foods that are disappearing (modern food production making tradional preserved foods obsolete). I'm also intrigued by traditional cuisines and how they change when made in differnt cultures. I also am interested in homestyle or farm cooking in different cultures- the sorts of things that don't get served in restaurants (Nikujaga, Dublin Coddle, Pizzoccheri, Mince Dumpling).

~HAPPY NEW YEAR~

Have you been gathering up all the blackberries yet? We keep picking them but then using them up right away, so today I'm going out with two huge containers and filling them up, and tomorrow. I need to make sure that I have enough for at least half of the rest of the year. I used your melting down process for my chocolate crusted blackberry bread.

Marie.

I LOVE Theo Chocolate! I took the tour when I was there this last December. Thinking about it, I really should give them some credit for my Curry Frosting recipe. It's because of them I knew that curry works well with dark chocolate! Thanks for bringing back that memory :)

invisiblechef- In the NW you can never have enough blackberry recipes ;) I imagine you could even skip the brown sugar, just use honey. You might go light on the vinegar and
