Are you back in China? I just read about the earthquake and the reports said people in Kunming were running out into the streets? Well I hope that your summer vacation was as good as mine, talk to you later.

Simple = best. It's neat that you found out that you can take real ingredients and make something BETTER than you'd find in a can. (I lived overseas for 3 years, so I know how it is!!)

    Happy cooking w/out canned stuff!

I noticed you are currently loving lemony things and if that is true you should try Lemon Asparagus Risotto by lyndee. Its very lemony and is a great risotto recipe. Can you buy asparagus in China - maybe it is not in season? If not, perhaps you could use mushrooms or some other veggie. I understand you are limited in ingredients and equipment as I am friends with Meileen who is also living in China. Happy Cooking! Sandy

omg, it is so hard to find a "scratch" recipe that doesn't use cans of tomato sauce, or paste, or something else chock full of sodium!

    *virtual high five*

Thanks for the invite I would love to be your cooking friend. It's hard for me to find ingrediants too since I also live in China, often find that I have to do 4 more extra steps to the recipe due to lack of ingrediants (ex.jar of roasted red peppers, I have roast myself). I look forward to sharing recipes!
Where in China do you currently live in?
