I am confused about the measurements:
# 1 1/2 cups of sugar # 1/2 cup of melted butter # 2 1/2 cups of flour
and
# 2 cups buttermilk # 1/2 cup raisin # 2 1/2 cups of Raisin Bran cereal
Do you mean to say 8 ounces in weight for each cup or are you using the word cup as a volume measurement?
2 1/2 cups of flour will weight out differently depending on the type of flour used but none will come out to be 20 ounces (8+8+4). The same holds true for raisin bran cereal, vegetable oil, and all items other than water or watery-like items.
Most recipes I have found on the WEB do not make this distinction and it creates BIG PROBLEMS when trying to figure out how much to put in.
