Bi Bim Bap

Korean comfort food! This is so wonderfully satisfying! I just had this dish for the 1st time yesterday on my annual trip to the Jane Cafe in Mineola, NY. It's served in a piping hot stone or cast iron dish.

Sesame Noodles With Pepper Pear Sauce

Do not go to an american market and pay $4 for a lttle glass jar containing 15 cents worth of spice. i wont stand by and let my cooking friends become victims of price gouging that has been going on as long as i can remember. (and im not that young). get a 16oz bottle of roasted sesame seeds as pictued at a korean grocery store. or message me with your address and i will mail them, or just dont use them. the piloncillo sugar cone as pictured is available at a mexican market. to use- open at the fat end on the bottom of the cone and take a paring knife and scrape against along the top as peeling a potato. if that seems dangerous place it against a cutting board and scape in that manner. practice first or have that ready in the preparation. you can substitute with turbinado sugar or brown sugar. i am only asking you not to skimp on the sesame oil. use only good quality korean sesame oil such as the one pictured. its 10 or 12 dollars. i make this when i can get pears and peppers out of the markdown produce racks so it is still very frugal to make. chicken filet on the side is optional.

Korean-style Beef And Green Beans

This dish is in the style of a Korean beef and green bean dish I once had and liked. It's a copy-cat recipe, but is very close in flavor to the original dish. You could probably use thinly sliced flank steak as well, but I haven't attempted because I usually do this one on a spur of the moment.
