Silent Shade Cobbler

I got some new cookbooks this weekend and “Screen Doors and Sweet Tea” had this recipe in it. I had to try it and am so glad that I did. It is absolutely delicious. I altered very little about the recipe. This is the way I made it and it was just great.

Peachy Morning Coffeecake

Peaches will soon be in season here, so I'm looking up my peach recipes (and I'm wishing I had some coffeecake this morning...). This makes a nice moist coffeecake (what fruit doesn't, though?!) with a crunchy struesel topping.

Chicken Bermuda

I made this great little chicken dish for dinner tonight and the family really enjoyed it. I served field peas and snap beans, greens, cornbread and tomatoes as sides. Wonderful meal. An on-line cooking buddy of mine - auntybea - was kind enough to share this recipe with me so all credit for it creativity goes to her. I used less chicken and more chili sauce than she did with great results.

Hearts Of Love-Yumm

I was driving home from Paradise Ca a week ago and a strawberry stand on a corner road in the country was selling strawberries. I stopped and bought 6 baskets of berries, got to the car, tasted one and turned around and bought 6 more baskets. They were the best in years, pure sugar, pure love. JJThis is what to eat watching a dvd. favorite program or with a special person.

Oatmeal Cake With Broiled Coconut Topping

Does anyone still make this cake from way back when? I recall my mother making this, so I know it was around in the late 50's. I haven't made it in years, then came upon the recipe when I was digging through a recipe box today. It has this wonderful pecan/coconut broiled topping that is added after the cake is baked. If you've never tried it, I would highly recommend it for a different taste treat from the usual "frosted" cake!
