Cacik

This refreshing yogurt dish can be served with marinated olives and pita bread, or as an accompaniment for meat dishes. It goes great with Kibbe (recipe provided seperately). I adapted this recipe from one found in a book called Mediterranean: A Taste of the Sun.

Eggplant Stew

Sweet And Salty Cake

I don't usually go for recipes with complicated preparations, but when I saw this one on Martha Stewart, the combination of sweet and salty in a chocolate cake was irrisistible. It was a lot of work, but worth it. Recipe courtesy of "Baked" and made on Martha Stewart show on December 13, 2006

Coconut Macaroons

This is my mom's recipe which she got from a Baker's coconut package. I like these because they mix up quickly in only one bowl and you don't have to use the mixer!

Betty Crocker Potato Refrigerator Dough

I got this recipe from my friend Jack, but as the name indicates it probably came from Betty Crocker. I like to mix this using the dough hook on my Kitchen Aid. I have made rolls, loaves, pizzas and cinnamon rolls with this dough. It's very versatile. Have also substituted whole wheat pastry flour for some of the flour to give it a heartier texture. My grandma always made the lightest, fluffiest clover-leaf rolls using water that she had cooked the potatoes in; the starch feeds the yeast. This is the closest thing I've found to hers.

Pasta With Squash And Pine Nuts

In my quest for a new and interesting pasta sauce, I came up with the idea of using squash. I especially like the combination of sweet and salty and the richness of the pine nuts.

Cherry Cheesecake

This is my mom's recipe. It was her "special" dessert when we were kids. Now my sisters and I all have the recipe and make it for our familys. It's still our family's favorite!
