Summertime Soup-salad

This is a cold soup that is more like a salad. It's a soup-salad! It's very refreshing on a hot day. I entered it in the Nebraska State Fair in the Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing recipe contest. You're supposed to use "Fresh" ingredients as well as Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. It didn't place, but my family likes it anyway.

Mulberry Jelly

It's mulberry season here in the midwest and so I sent the kids out with pails and baskets and ladder to collect the bounty from our trees. For those unfamiliar with mulberries, they are a very sweet, deep purple berry that looks a lot like a blackberry but more slender with finer seeds. Trees can grow taller than a house. White Mulberries also can be found. The birds love them so you need to hurry and pick them once they ripen, so as to beat the birds to them. This recipe comes from the "Women's Day Encyclopedia of Cookery, 1966".
