New England Clam Chowder

This is an easy Clam Chowder . .to throw together on a cold night, esp if you keep the spice blend handy. It was adapted from the original Cliff House Spice blend. I have omitted some spices and added more garlic. and clams to the recipe. I like to cook it on the woodstove in a cast iron dutch oven, but stovetop is fine too.

Grilled Corn And Hefeweizen Butter

When summer corn is abundant, try this easy side dish on the grill. If you have left over cobs, cut the kernels off and serve the next day with a little more butter. It only gets better.

Hefeweizen, is a Weissbier made traditionally in Germany with the most abundant grains on hand , being wheat and barley. It was paler than the traditional dark brews of Germany, thus it got its name “weiss-bier” meaning white . beer . Broken down, Hefeweizen is Hefe (yeast) and Weizen (wheat)… and is an unfiltered wheat beer with yeast added . It is a pale ale with a cloudiness from the yeast particles .The wheat gives it a very crisp bright flavors and bit of fruitiness.. American brewers may add a little hops for a pleasant bitterness with a smooth clean finish.

I’m sure you could use any good beer , probably preferably a wheat beer to get the same flavors.
