Roast Turkey With Gravy

Christmas is a-coming, turkey time for us Brits! My foolproof way of cooking turkey for 4 -6 hungry folks.

More guests? The size of turkey can be increased, just use the 20 mins. per lb. + 20 minutes rule and it will be fine!

Pot Au Feu

The weather here has been vile, so I have been making comfort food by the cartload. This recipe for the French country-style rib-sticker is perhaps not 100% authentic but quite close, and quite, quite delicious. Colourful too! I find some bacon and gammon joints too salty - even for me! so I parboil them first, which gets rid of some of the excess salt.

Fall Back Hearty Chicken And Vegetable One-pot Casserole

On the eve of the month of November, feeling the cold creeping into my frame, and the depressing effects of the darkening afternoons (we put our clocks back already) and therefore in search of comfort food, I threw this stew together using stuff I had on hand – you could use any veggies you like, and add fresh herbs or wine or anything else, to vary it. My guinea pig (husband) thought this was great and ate it all up, despite the vegetables! I used stock I concocted from the leftovers from two or three previous meals, but you can use any kind of stock really.

--

Please note, this was my initial attempt at posting this recipe... (Fall Back Hearty Chicken and Vegetable One-pot Casserole)...not a success, as you can see. It somehow got posted twice, once without instructions (this one) and the other one complete.

Roast Sage And Onion Turkey Leg

Not just for Christmas, as it used to be here in the UK... an easy dish, to make use of a cheaper, tasty and healthier meat choice. I've put two servings although it would feed four if it was a big enough leg. (The one we had last night was more like an ostrich's than a turkey's). We eat it hot one night with the gravy, and have the rest on sandwiches, etc. later. Loads of lovely gravy!!!!!

The Good Wifes Guide

The photo is a copy of a document which was tucked under the place setting of every guest at my wedding 9 years ago. As well as doing my own stationery, I found the time to use this article I found, which tickled me pink. I reformatted it into this souvenir.. It purported to be a reprint from a 50s magazine. After the wedding breakfast it was read out besides the speeches, accompanied by much hilarity and needless to say scandalized half the guests.
