Saffron Chicken

I looked around for a Saffron Chicken recipe that sounded good and couldn't find one. So... I ended up melding the ingredients from 2 different recipes I found and used my own prep and cooking methods. I made this in my 12" cast iron skillet that has a lid. I served it with rice pilaf and steamed broccoli -YUMMMMMMMM

Better Than That Store Bought Baking Mix

When I was a kid I have fond memories of the big yellow box. Now I can't stand the chemical taste. I keep this in my pantry at all times. This recipe makes about 12 cups of baking mix that can be used the same as the name brand baking mix.

Basic Italian Bread

This is without a doubt my all time favorite Italian bread recipe. It is a 2 day project but sooooo worth it. You make the starter the day before you want to bake the bread. It takes all of 5 minutes to whip up the starter! Try it once and you will be hesitant to ever purchase another loaf from the store.

Blanket Cookies

I volunteer for Project Linus an organization that makes and distributes handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Our chapter coordinator recently did an event with a local Brownie troop. One of the dads made this snack for the event. Directions and photo printed with permission.

Porch Salad

It never occurred to me that other people don't eat flowers, we've been doing it here for years. When I plant the containers on my porch I've always gained a sense of satisfaction that their prettiness is matched by their usefulness. We've been picking this salad from our porch for years. I grow my own Meyer Lemons in a container too. I promise to post photos when this years crop comes in. Just an FYI, I don't eat flowers if I don't know where they come from. I was told by my florist friend to NEVER eat flowers that you get from a florist as they are usually specially (read CHEMICALS) treated for longevity.

Gingered Peanut Butter Cookies

A nice variation on traditional peanut butter cookies. My Gran used to add ginger to her peanut butter snaps and I have always loved the combination.
