Mizz Rs Big Bad Christmas Cake

I made my dad one of his favourite Christmas confections - fruitcake - out of another one of his favourites - home made mincemeat! This sucker took up a whole 10" springform with barely any room to spare, and clocked in at just over 6 lbs. It's a combination of two recipes from historic Toronto Star clipouts! Mizz R, if you're wondering by the way, is me! The mincemeat recipe is also on this site: http://www.grouprecipes.com/107940/mizz-rs-big-bad-mincemeat.html

Mizz Rs Big Bad Mincemeat

This vegan mincemeat mixture was originally made for my Big Bad Christmas Cake this year, but it can also be used for several pies, it makes about 5 cups but you'll only need 3 cups for the cake (if you choose to make it) and the remainders keep very well.

Mexican Style Chicken On Rice With Black Beans

Last night I wanted to make something fast, easy and tasty...and I didn't want to go to the market. So I looked in my pantry, and in the vegetable bin...a left-over poblano pepper, a jalepeno, a can of black beans...some frozen brown rice = DINNER = in less then 15 minutes.

Steak Kidney And Oyster Pudding

In the UK the origins of steak and oyster pie have long since been lost in the mist of time; it is even mentioned as a dish in Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales” which establishes provenance to around 1400. At some stage every aspiring chef attempts this dish and variations have evolved which have themselves passed into tradition, ale or Guinness being one of the most popular additions. This receipe is a ‘back to basics’ circa 1850 London version when oysters were added to ‘pad out’ the pie filling and the latest kitchen condiment “Worcestershire Sauce” was being popularized.

Some subtle variations you may care to try include preparing a stock by infusing the beards of the oyster with some lemon peel for 10 minutes.

Its sacrilege to suggest but for a diet conscious variation you may care to replace the suggest pastry case and make it in a pie dish with a puff pastry top.

Yemista Rice-stuffed Tomatoes And Peppers

This extremely popular , Greek , traditional , divinely tasting , summer , ranked "top 5 mostly loved Greek dishes" , is a taste-bud craving experience !! Easy to make , but tricky , dont worry I explain thouroughly in this recipe for you to treasure . I am sure that regardless your food background , you will enjoy it . AND it's vegeterian too !! Oh , the actuall recipe has 4 vegs that are used to fill : tomatoes , peppers , meliztanes ( aubergines ) and kolokithakia ( courgettes ) . That's when they taste great . In this recipe , I have used toms and pepps . There is a second version of this recipe that uses beef mince ( 1/2 to 1 cup ) which is sauteed with the fillings , as mentioned in directions . This gives a richer taste . These are the ONLY authentic ingredients . Thereafter , people use plenty other stuff , according to taste and imagination but not to tradition . Enjoy !!
