Cinnamon Ornaments

Here's a fun craft perfect for kids during the holidays! Make your own Christmas ornaments out of cinnamon! Once dry, they can be decorated with acrylic paint or even cookie decorations, like the ones my nephews, sisters, and I did here. They smell delicious and look so pretty on the tree. The smell will last a couple years, and you can refresh it with a few drops of cinnamon essential oil so they can last indefinitely. Have fun and Merry Christmas! I don't think it needs to be said, but I'll say it anyway: These are NOT edible. Decoration only.

Homemade Playdough

One way to save money and have a fun afternoon during a cold and rainy fall/winter day is to make playdough. This is the first time I have done it in the microwave and I will never go back to the stovetop.

Chef Hats

For those of you who don't know what clover leaf rolls are, they are the ones that, once baked, come out looking almost exactly like chef hats. Not all brands will call them by this name. In fact most of them still call them simple dinner rolls. If you think about it for a moment you will remembr as close as only a few years ago, they were still the most popular shaped roll to serve in restaurants with main entrees. They puff up in 3 sections on top while baking. You can usually find them in the fresh breads section. They are not refrigerator rolls.

Hot cocoa with all the trimmings (mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and a cherry-red gumdrop) sports an even sweeter look packaged as a cone. Add a tag letting your recipients know the cone contains enough for four servings. check out other great ideas for Gifts Kids Can Make.
