Black Forest Cherry Cake Schwartzwaelderkirschtorte

I got this recipe during my year as an exchange student in Munich. My daughter wanted to make her fella the birthday cake of his choice, and this is what he wanted, so I worked it up for her. She lives up a mountain, so I included also the high-altitude adaptation, at least according to *Joy of Cooking*. I should warn you that I have translated this recipe and recalculated the weight measurements into volume measurements--but it is the recipe that I have made many times. It is much much easier than it sounds.

Pilfered Spinach A La Creme

A rich and colorful spinach dish that will "fancy up" a simple meal like grilled fish or chicken.
My husband named it because I "stole" it from a steak house by tasting it, guessing the ingredients, and replicating it at home.

and then "stole" the flavors

Cinnamon Apple Raisin Pie With A Crumb Crust

This is a fantastic pie that I just made last night. My husband loved it!
It is printed in Bon Appettit magazine, but I used my standard crust or you can use a refrigerated crust if you like.

I also changed the sugar in the filling and the way I baked it....much easier my way.
