Hungarian Pork And Sauerkraut Casserole Kolovzsvari Kaposzta

I first tasted this dish years ago at the Columbus International Festival. The Hungarian ladies bring huge amounts of it every year to sell to eager tasters, and I finally got the recipe. Ingredients have been modernized in amounts (because I'll bet you don't know what a #2.5 can is, either!) and instructions are entirely my own words. If there's more explanation than you need, just allow for a beginner cook who was confused and wished that someone had written it down this way in the first place.

Somloi Galuska Hungarian Trifle Dessert

AS specialty Hungarian dessert usually made of a few separate sponge cake layers, filled with custards and sauce, chocolate.
Quite decadent and rich. Each family has their own recipe. The idea is to have a dessert that features the separate sponge cake layers

Chicken Paprikash

I've always wanted to try Chicken Paprikash, a traditional Hungarian dish. I found this recipe out of my recent Cook's Country magazine, and thought I'd try it, as they extensively test all their recipes first. It was everything they promised! Tender chicken with sweet red peppers and onions coated with a silky, velvety sauce flavored with warm paprika and just a slight tang from a little sour cream. I will definitely be making this again - this will be a comfort-food favorite in our home. I wish I had taken a picture, but it was devoured too quickly!

Vegetable Goulash

This recipe came from an old cookbook called The (Almost) NoFat Holiday Cookbook Festive Vegetarian Recipes by Bryanna Clark Grogan. It is listed as an item on a menu for the Jewish New Year. It is actually really simple to prepare and tastes delicious. I don't like wine much, so I just used a red wine we had that I thought a little bitter, Navarro and it was good.

My Hungarian Grandmas Noodle Dish

This is a quick dish my grandma made for me when I was growing up, when it was too hot to cook. I still make it today. The combo of ingredients may sound odd & simple, but please try it. There are no exact measurements. Just go by feel.
