Pecan Fudge Icing

This is so good, I usually make a little extra to appease my husband (he gets to lick the bowl) until the time passes and we can eat it.
It's a nice homey topping for my Clara's Chocolate Cake

Shrimp - Scallop Teriyaki

I was flipping channels as I was getting ready to post this recipe and Independence Day was playing. You remember the scene when they show you the captured alien space ship in area 51? It is Hollywood so they can have an area 51 because as we all know there is no area 51, it is a myth perpetrated by all of those deluded fools that believe in UFOs and a massive government cover up. After all aren’t we at the top of the food chain? Nothing can be as advanced as humanity. All those little points of light in the night sky are just pretty decorations for our amusement and for some enterprising people to convince us to pay money and name them after something we love. The Air Force used to periodically send me to a ground combat school out in that neck of the "woods" and we got to watch some lights dance in the sky one night. UFOs or just someone testing something at night? So if there is something out there would they be as benevolent as humanity has been to less advanced cultures or would we be the main ingredient in their version of Shrimp-Scallop Teriyaki that Mrs. Stanley Eznekier came up with and put in the Theta Tau Sorority cook book? Do you think they need to increase my meds or just not let me watch TV?

Apple Oatmeal

This is a recipe that I got out of one of my cooking magazines about 4 months ago and have been enjoying ever since. It's popular with my husband and our young sons. The original recipe was from Danielle Pepa, from Elgin, IL. We make a point of having a big brunch on Saturdays and Sundays since we all love "breakfast food" but seldom hvea time for more than a bowl of cereal and fruit on weekday mornings. This oatmeal is a favorite part of any brunch menu.
