The Hipsters Spam Musubi

There are soooo many ways to doctor this up to your liking. You can use leftover meats from the night before, or no meat at all and just veggies but, the most important thing is the rice.... Use the "finger rule" Dip your finger in your ricepot all the way to the bottom. Wherever the rice lands on your finger is the same amount of water that you use.... I also use teri-chicken, teri-beef, you can put ume(sp) not sure hot to spell but, its a pickled plum... Many variations to this... Have Fun!!!

Earth-Sea Udon

This is an adaptation of one of the quick packages of Udon brand udon noodles. It's an earthy clear-mushroom/noodle soup and looks cute in a bento with the octopus swimming in it. This is a one-pot recipe perfect for college apartments.

I always pick up something new when I shop, so this soup recipe is a combination of ingredients I researched when figuring out how to make a oriental style seaweed soup. We loved it.
Wakame , Nori or Hajiiki are all types of healthy sea plant food to eat!!

Korean Seaweed Soup-miyeok Guk

This recipe is handed down from my mother. I have loved my mom's food. My kids love her as well. Sometimes I argue with my friend that who's recipes is the right way to cook the seaweed soup I don't know who is right. But my family like the way I cook.
German scientists in the early 1900s (reference needed) examined the healing properties of Miyeok guk and found it to be rich in iodine amongst other vital nutrients needed by a mother immediately after giving birth. As a hot flavorful soup, these women rarely get upset from consuming this seaweed soup and often have it as part of their regular diet during the pregnancy phase. Koreans eat this soup on their birthdays to commemorate this period of pregnancy and labor. So we call this soup as the birthday soup

Sushi For Singles

Eating dinner alone, craving sushi but not wanting to sit alone at the bar, order take-out or get supemarket-style rolls? This makes 2 decent-sized rolls of sushi which can be filled with anything you like. For simplicity's sake I love crabstick (surimi) and cucumber sticks in mine.
