Maple Caramel Sauce

Friends will love this exquisitely ooey, gooey sauce, which elevates everything from pancakes and waffles to ice cream. From O, The Oprah Magazine. Another treat for gifting for the holidays.

Slow Cooker Macaroni And Cheese

Another one from my sister's cookbook. Pasta in the crockpot is a challenge since there has to be enough liquid to cook it, but not so much that it gets mushy. This one is a classic mac & cheese, & you don't have to make a heavy white sauce. Evaporated milk and egg serve as the thickener, and canned milk doesn't curdle the way fresh milk does. Just note that this isn't one you can throw in the cooker before you go to work, since it can only cook for about 4 hours.

White Chocolate Lavender Cheesecake

A sweet chocolate with a slightly floral taste and smell, a departure from the norm. Although a heavy dessert, the lighter flavor can compliment a heavy meal; just serve a bit later than a normal dessert. Really cleanses the palate.

Lucky Chocolate Cake

Adapted from Stephchows (http://stephchows.blogspot.com/2009/01/black-eye-pea-cake.html) who got it from Bittersweet's blog, this is a vegan, flourless chocolate cake... you can't taste the "secret" ingredient either!

Silky Cauliflower And Basil Soup

Hey. It's cold outside. But soup's on inside. This one is silky and elegant, satisfying but guilt-free.

Homemade Crockpot Apple Butter

It's dark, sweet, tangy, silky, and spicy. It is SO GOOD on toast with a little vegan margarine, you have no idea. It's like concentrated apple pie.

I ended up cooking this apple butter for a full 24 hours. Between prepping, cooking, and canning, the whole project took 26 hours! 26! A lot of that was downtime, but still.

Baklasagna

You will never believe the complexity that the paper-thin layers paired with a savoury tomato sauce give to an otherwise "plain" lasagne recipe. Just like baklava, it gets a central thick layer too - pureed cottage cheese that's strained to almost a custard consistency. This does need to chill before baking, and you will need every bit of counter space you own, especially if you're making your own pasta. If that's not your thing though, use 1 lb fresh lasagne sheets from the grocery and roll them out with a rolling pin as thin as possible. Inspiration credit goes to Heidi: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/001386.html.

Veganized Veggie Bake

This was the decadent casserole dish that I made to take with me to school during the week. It's adapted from http://tinyurl.com/6f2zae
to be totally vegan, using Galaxy Foods brand rice "parmesan". For Weight Watchers out there, it's only 2 pts for 1/4 of the pan!

Poached Garlic Soup

I have been holding on to this for quite a while. Got a slight head cold and looked under my soup recipes. This is great. Micheal Chiarello's recipe and a definite new favorite for me. Made GARLIC bread for dunking
