Favorite Sauerbraten

This is the traditional German dinner I have served since the first year I was married...40 years in October! I used to have mum, dad & all the German relatives over and enjoyed hearing their memories of their mothers and grandmothers making this. I've tried to make it once a year to keep a thread of our German heritage running and now the kids and grandkids love it, too.

Curry-spiced Sweet Potato Mash

Hubby and I went wild over these! Takes sweet potatoes to a whole new level. From the March Cooking Light. These go perfect with pork. The rest of the menu was Deen Bros orange ginger grilled pork chops, cucumbers in sour cream, and for dessert...grilled spiced fresh apricots with vanilla ice cream.

Hot Chorizo Taco Dip

A neighbor first introduced me to this "spiced up" taco dip back in the late 80's. I loved it at first bite, and was hooked. The chorizo - tamed down by the no-bean chili and cheeses - adds a heartier dimension to the dip than the usual no-bean chili and cheese queso I make, and it's almost like a meal (especially when I stand at the stove "taste-testing" for way too long...). This is another one of those "oldies but goodies" that I didn't want to be forgotten.
