Ingredients
1 pinch salt
3 egg whites
1/2 c sliced walnuts
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 c confectioners' sugar for decoration
1 c all-purpose flour
2/3 c dates, pitted & sliced
1 c white sugar
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step #2 Lightly grease one 9 inch square baking pan.
Step #3 Combine flour & baking powder & set aside.
Step #4 In a large, clean glass or metal bowl, whip egg whites & salt & until foamy.
Step #5 Gradually add sugar & continue to whip until stiff (but not dry).
Step #6 Gradually fold in dry ingredients then fold in dates & nuts.
Step #7 Spread evenly in prepared pan.
Step #8 Bake for 20-30 mins or until firm to touch.
Step #9 Cool in pan until just cool enough to handle.
Step #10 Cut into finger-sized lengths & roll between palms to form logs.
Step #11 Roll each log in confectioners' sugar.
Step #12 Cool completely on wire rack.
