Lean Pizza Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced .
  • 2 (14 1/2 oz) cans Italian-style sliced tomatoes, undrained .
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes .
  • 1 small bell pepper, seeded & sliced .
  • 1 (14 oz) pizza sauce .
  • 1/2 c shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese .
  • 1 (16 oz) package penne pasta .
  • 0 turkey pepperoni .
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or lean ground beef

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
  • Step #2 Cook ground beef, onion & pepper In a large-ish saucepan over med-heat/flame 5 to 10 mins until beef is browned & vegetables are tender.
  • Step #3 Stir in pizza sauce, tomatoes & pepper, stirring well; simmer for 10 mins.
  • Step #4 Stir in cooked pasta.
  • Step #5 Place mixture in a lightly greased 13-x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Step #6 Top with turkey pepperoni & bake this at 350°F for 20 to 30 mins or until heated thoroughly.
  • Step #7 Top with mozzarella cheese & bake 5 more mins.
