Ingredients
  • 3 3/4 c flour .
  • 1/2 c warm milk .
  • 1/2 c warm water (110F) .
  • 3 tbsps jam .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/3 c butter .
  • 1 egg white, beaten .
  • 3 egg yolks .
  • 4 1/2 tsps active dry yeast .
  • oil (for deep frying) .
  • 1 1/3 c sugar, divided

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl disolve yeast in warm water.
  • Step #2 Add milk ,soft butter,1/3 c sugar,egg yolks & salt.
  • Step #3 Mix well.
  • Step #4 Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough.
  • Step #5 DO NOT KNEAD.
  • Step #6 Place in a greased bowl turning once to grease top.
  • Step #7 Place in a warm draft free place til double,about 90 mins.
  • Step #8 Punch dough down Knead about 10 times.
  • Step #9 Divide in half.
  • Step #10 Roll to 1/4 inch thickness & cut with floured 2 1/2 inch round cutter.
  • Step #11 Place 1/2 tsp jam in center Brush edges with egg whites.
  • Step #12 Cover up & seal tightly.
  • Step #13 Cover up & let rise for 1 hr.
  • Step #14 Fry at 375F for 1-2 mins per side.
  • Step #15 Drain on paper towels Roll in remaining sugar while still warm.
