Spinach Won-tons Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp peanut oil .
  • salt & pepper (to taste) .
  • 60 wonton wrappers .
  • 1/4 c onions, minced .
  • 1 garlic clove, minced .
  • 10 oz fresh spinach .
  • 10 water chestnuts, rinsed, drained & minced

Directions
  • Step #1 Wash the spinach thoroughly & trim any tough stems or bad spots on the leaves.
  • Step #2 Drain the spinach & pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Step #3 Coarsely chop the spinach.
  • Step #4 Assemble all of your prepared ingredients beforehand as the cooking is quick.
  • Step #5 Place a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #6 When the pan or wok gets smoking hot, add the peanut oil with the garlic & onion.
  • Step #7 Stirfry the onion & garlic for 30 seconds, the add the spinach & water chesnuts.
  • Step #8 Continue to cook an extra 3 mins, allowing the water from the spinach to cook off.
  • Step #9 Transfer the vegetables from the wok or pan to a bowl.
  • Step #10 Spice up with salt & pepper to taste.
  • Step #11 Allow the spinach to cool for 5 mins.
  • Step #12 To form the wontons, pull one wonton from the package an moisten the edges with water.
  • Step #13 Place a scant tsp of the spinach mixture in the center of the wonton.
  • Step #14 Fold the wonton over into a triangle.
  • Step #15 Now, fold the long corners together & give them a wee pinch to hold together.
  • Step #16 Cover up the completed wontons with plastic wrap to prevent the wrappers from drying out.
  • Step #17 There are several options on how to cook prepared wontons.
  • Step #18 You can simmer them in some vegetable or chicken broth for a good soup.
  • Step #19 Add some nice veggies to make this a soup entree.
  • Step #20 You can also steam them & serve this with a soy dipping sauce.
  • Step #21 You can also deep fry them in oil, also serving them with dipping sauce.
  • Step #22 Prepared won-tons can be frozen by placing single-layer them on a cooking sheet.
  • Step #23 Once frozen, transfer them to a resealable bag & you can take out what you need.
