Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 250*.
Step #2 mix crackers & peanuts in a greased large shallow baking pan.
Step #3 in a saucepan, bring sugar, butter, & corn syrup to a boil & cook 5 mins.
Step #4 remove this from heat, add vanilla & baking soda.
Step #5 pour caramel mixture over crackers & peanuts.
Step #6 stir well.
Step #7 bake 1 hr, stirring every 15 mins.
Step #8 pour onto waxed paper & break apart -- allow this to cool.
Step #9 store this in an airtight container.
