Spicy Pecans Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsps salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp ground red pepper
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 1/4 c orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp ground mace
  • 1 lb pecan halves (about 4 c)

Directions
  • Step #1 Stir together first 7 ingredients in a heavy skillet over med-heat/flame, stirring until butter melts & sugar dissolves.
  • Step #2 Remove skillet from heat; add nuts, & toss to coat.
  • Step #3 Place pecan mixture in a single layer in an aluminum foil wrap-lined 15- x 10-inch jellyroll pan.
  • Step #4 Bake at 250° for 1 hr, stirring every 15 mins.
  • Step #5 Cool in pan on a wire rack, separating pecans with a fork.
  • Step #6 Store in an airtight container up to 1 week, or freeze up to 1 month.
