Cloverleaf Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c warm water (110 degrees F to 115 degrees F)
  • 1/4 c shortening
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 2 (.25 oz) packages active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 1/2 c warm milk (110 to 115 degrees F)
  • 1 egg
  • 5 1/2 c all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
  • Step #2 Beat in milk, sugar, egg, shortening & salt & 2 c of flour until smooth.
  • Step #3 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • Step #4 Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 mins.
  • Step #5 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • Step #6 Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Punch dough down.
  • Step #8 Roll into 90 balls; place three balls each in greased muffin c.
  • Step #9 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 45 mins.
  • Step #10 Bake at 375 degrees F for 12-14 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #11 Cool on wire racks.
