Ingredients
1/2 c warm water (110 degrees F to 115 degrees F)
1/4 c shortening
2 tsps salt
2 (.25 oz) packages active dry yeast
1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 c warm milk (110 to 115 degrees F)
1 egg
5 1/2 c all-purpose flour
Directions
Step #1 In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Step #2 Beat in milk, sugar, egg, shortening & salt & 2 c of flour until smooth.
Step #3 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Step #4 Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 mins.
Step #5 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Step #6 Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
Step #7 Punch dough down.
Step #8 Roll into 90 balls; place three balls each in greased muffin c.
Step #9 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 45 mins.
Step #10 Bake at 375 degrees F for 12-14 mins or until golden brown.
Step #11 Cool on wire racks.
Step #12 .
