Chicken Crescent Braid Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 medium carrots, peeled & sliced
  • 2 (10 oz) cans put in the fridged crescent rolls
  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 4 small white potatoes with skin
  • 1 pinch salt & black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsps country Dijon-style mustard
  • 1/2 lb fresh green beans, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 (16 oz) container sour cream
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp adobo seasoning
  • 1 c dry bread crumbs
  • 3 tbsps vegetable oil

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook potatoes in a microwave on high heat until soft, about 15 mins.
  • Step #2 Place carrots & green beans into a medium saucepan of boiling water, & cook to soften, about 5 mins.
  • Step #3 In a large skillet, heat oil over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #4 Dip chicken strips into beaten egg, coat in bread crumbs, & cook in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
  • Step #5 Remove to paper towels to cool.
  • Step #6 Then cut chicken strips into cubes.
  • Step #7 Cut softened potatoes into cubes.
  • Step #8 Place potato cubes, green beans, carrots, & chicken cubes into a large bowl.
  • Step #9 Gently stir in the sour cream & mustard; season this with adobo, & salt & pepper to taste.
  • Step #10 Lightly sprinkle a baking sheet with flour.
  • Step #11 Unroll crescent roll dough from one can onto a baking sheet; pinch the perforations together to form a single sheet of dough.
  • Step #12 Repeat with the remaining roll; lay it out beside the first sheet of dough & pinch to connect the two together.
  • Step #13 The dough should now be about 12 inches long & 7 inches wide.
  • Step #14 Roll out the dough until it is about 20 inches long & 12 inches wide.
  • Step #15 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #16 Spoon the filling directly down the center of the dough, leaving 1-inch margins at the top & bottom & 3-inch margins at the sides.
  • Step #17 With scissors, cut 1-inch strips from the margins of the two long sides (6 strips in all).
  • Step #18 At the top & bottom, fold the dough in about 1 inch.
  • Step #19 Then take one strip & lay it across the filling from corner to corner.
  • Step #20 Pinch to seal.
  • Step #21 Lay across another strip from the opposite corners.
  • Step #22 Repeat until all of the strips are braided across the dough.
  • Step #23 Brush the top this with egg wash.
  • Step #24 Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown, about 20 mins.
