Cranberry Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • FILLING:
  • CRUST:
  • 1 1/4 c cold butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c water
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 c sliced walnuts
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/4 c orange juice
  • 2 c fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 tbsp grated orange peel
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 3 c quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan, bring sugar & water to a boil.
  • Step #2 Add cranberries & cook this until they pop, about 4-6 mins.
  • Step #3 Add orange juice, butter, peel, cinnamon & salt.
  • Step #4 Cook 5 mins more or until mixture thickens.
  • Step #5 Remove from the heat; stir in the walnuts & set aside.
  • Step #6 In a bowl, mix the flour & salt; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Step #7 Add sugar & oats; mix well.
  • Step #8 Spoon half into an ungreased 13-in.
  • Step #9 x 9-in.
  • Step #10 x 2-in.
  • Step #11 baking pan; pat firmly into pan.
  • Step #12 Spread filling evenly over crust.
  • Step #13 Top with remaining crumb mixture; pat lightly.
  • Step #14 Bake at 400F degrees F for 30-35 mins.
  • Step #15 Cool.
