Monkey Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c 1% low-fat milk
  • 1 3/4 tsps ground cinnamon, divided
  •  Cooking spray
  • 1 tbsp reduced-calorie stick margarine
  • 2 (1-lb) loaves frozen white bread dough
  • 1 1/4 c sugar, divided
  • 1/4 c packed brown sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Thaw bread dough in refrigerator for 12 hrs.
  • Step #2 Combine 1 c sugar, brown sugar, margarine, milk, & 1 1/4 tsps cinnamon in a small saucepan.
  • Step #3 Bring to a boil; cook 1 min.
  • Step #4 Remove sugar syrup from heat; let cool 10 mins.
  • Step #5 Combine 1/4 c sugar & 1/2 tsp cinnamon in a shallow dish; stir well.
  • Step #6 Cut each loaf of dough into 24 equal portions.
  • Step #7 Roll each portion in sugar mixture; layer balls of dough in a 12-c Bundt pan coated with cooking spray.
  • Step #8 Pour sugar syrup over dough; cover & let rise in a warm place (85°), free from drafts, 35 mins or until doubled in bulk.
  • Step #9 Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Step #10 Uncover, & bake this at 350° for 25 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #11 Immediately loosen edges of bread with a knife.
  • Step #12 Place a plate upside down on top of pan; invert onto plate.
  • Step #13 Remove pan; drizzle any remaining syrup over bread.
