Beef Rendang Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 red chilies, finely sliced .
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste .
  • 4 tbsps fish sauce .
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric .
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves .
  • 1 inch cubs fresh ginger, grated .
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar .
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander .
  • 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg .
  • 2 tbsps oil .
  • 200 ml coconut milk .
  • 1 tsp shrimp paste .
  • 1 onion, quartered .
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon .
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce .
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin .
  • 2 lbs beef, cubed .
  • 2 star anise

Directions
  • Step #1 Put all of the ingredients, EXCEPT FOR THE BEEF, into a mixer & whizz for 1 min to make the sauce.
  • Step #2 Put the sauce in a pan & bring to the boil, add the meat, lower heat & let simmer till meat is tender.
