Dr. Pepper Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2/3 c sliced, unsalted dry-roasted peanuts
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 c peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 c miniature marshmallows
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 6 tbsps butter
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 c white sugar
  • 1 c Dr. Pepper soft drink
  • 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 1 c butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Lightly grease one 9x13 inch cake pan.
  • Step #3 Mix together the flour & the white sugar.
  • Step #4 In a saucepan mix the Dr.
  • Step #5 Pepper, & 1 c of the butter or margarine, cocoa, bring to a boil.
  • Step #6 Pour melted butter mixture over the flour & mix well.
  • Step #7 Stir in the beaten eggs, baking soda, vanilla, buttermilk & miniature marshmallows & mix well.
  • Step #8 Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Step #9 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 mins.
  • Step #10 Remove from oven & spread peanut butter topping over warm cake.
  • Step #11 Place frosted cake under broiler, about 4 inches from the heat source.
  • Step #12 Broil for just a few seconds, or until topping starts to bubble.
  • Step #13 Do not scorch.
  • Step #14 Let cake cool at least 30 mins before serving.
  • Step #15 To Make Peanut Butter Topping: Cream together the remaining 6 tbsps butter, the brown sugar, & the peanut butter.
  • Step #16 Add the milk & stir well.
  • Step #17 Mix in the nuts.
  • Step #18 Spread topping over still warm cake.
