Cinnamon Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c butter, melted

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Lightly grease & flour a 9x5 inch baking pan.
  • Step #3 In a large bowl, mix brown sugar, white sugar & flour.
  • Step #4 Stir in melted butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step #5 Add vanilla extract.
  • Step #6 Mix in baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon & ginger.
  • Step #7 Reserve 1/4 c this mixture to be used as topping.
  • Step #8 In a separate bowl, beat together egg & buttermilk; stir slowly into flour mixture.
  • Step #9 Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top batter with reserved topping.
  • Step #11 Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 mins, until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Step #12 Sprinkle top with powdered sugar & serve.
