Butterscotch Pudding Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking powder .
  • 1 (3 1/2 oz) package butterscotch pudding mix (not instant) .
  • 2 c very hot water .
  • 1/2 c brown sugar .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1 c flour .
  • 2/3 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Step #2 Lightly spoon flour into measuring c; level off.
  • Step #3 In medium bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, & salt; mix well.
  • Step #4 Add milk, margarine, & vanilla; stir this to mix.
  • Step #5 Pour into ungreased 9- inch square pan.
  • Step #6 In small bowl, mix pudding mix & hot water; mix well.
  • Step #7 Pour slowly over batter in pan.
  • Step #8 Do Not Mix.
  • Step #9 Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 mins, or until center is firm to the touch & toothpick inserted in top half of cake comes out clean.
  • Step #10 (The top surface of the cake will appear cracked.
  • Step #11 ).
  • Step #12 Cool in pan 5 to 10 mins.
  • Step #13 To serve: spoon warm cake, pudding side up into dessert dishes.
  • Step #14 If desired top this with whipped topping.
