Smashed Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps sour cream .
  • 1 dash fresh ground pepper .
  • SMASH .
  • 1 lb red potatoes .
  • 1 dash italian seasoning (optional) or onion powder (optional) or garlic powder (optional) or steak seasoning (optional) .
  • minced chives or parsley .
  • BOIL .
  • 1 garlic clove (optional) .
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt .
  • water, to cover potato .
  • 2 tsps kosher salt, for boiling .
  • OPTIONAL SPICES .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 1/4 c cream or half-and-half

Directions
  • Step #1 Wash potatoes & remove eyes & bad spots.
  • Step #2 Do not peel.
  • Step #3 Cut in half or large chunks.
  • Step #4 If using garlic, peel clove & place this in pot with potatoes.
  • Step #5 Cover up with salted water & bring to a boil.
  • Step #6 Cook on medium-low for 20 mins or until potatoes are fork-tender.
  • Step #7 Drain potatoes & put back into pot.
  • Step #8 Add butter, sour cream, & cream or half-and-half.
  • Step #9 Mash in the pot using a hand-held potato masher.
  • Step #10 I usually leave the stove on the lowest setting when i do this step.
  • Step #11 Add extra milk, salt & pepper as needed.
  • Step #12 Add optional spices if desired.
  • Step #13 Top with paprika & either parsley or chives.
