Italian Bread (bread Machine) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tsps dry yeast .
  • 2 tbsps cornmeal .
  • 2 tsps sugar .
  • 1 c water, warmed .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 3 c all-purpose flour .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 whole egg white

Directions
  • Step #1 Add into bread machine container, sugar, olive oil, warmed water, yeast.
  • Step #2 Let yeast foam a bit.
  • Step #3 Dump in flour (start with 2 1/2 c); add salt on top of flour.
  • Step #4 Turn on bread machine to dough setting.
  • Step #5 Watch for the first bit & add flour as needed to get a good dough.
  • Step #6 (elastic & not sticky).
  • Step #7 Get cookie sheet ready by lightly oiling with olive oil & sprinkle on cornmeal.
  • Step #8 Form dough into loaf & set on cookie sheet with tea towel to cover until doubled in size.
  • Step #9 Preheat oven to 375*F.
  • Step #10 Cut slits diagonally in loaf with sharp knife.
  • Step #11 Brush with egg white.
  • Step #12 Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 mins, until golden brown & when you knock the bottom of bread it sounds hollow.
