Cherry Upside Down Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2 tbsps cornstarch .
2 (14 1/2 oz) cans unsweetened tart red cherries, with juice .
2 tbsps butter, melted .
whipped cream (optional) .
1 c sugar .
vanilla ice cream (optional) .
3/4 tsp almond extract .
1 (18 1/4 oz) box white cake mix .
1 tsp red food coloring

Directions

Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step #2 Grease & flour a 9x13 baking pan & set aside.
Step #3 Prepare cake mix according to directions on the box & pour this into prepared 9x13 pan.
Step #4 Mix remaining ingredients until sugar & cornstarch are dissolved.
Step #5 Pour or carefully spoon cherry mixture over batter.
Step #6 Bake for 50-60 mins.
Step #7 Serve topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
