Cherry Upside Down Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps cornstarch .
  • 2 (14 1/2 oz) cans unsweetened tart red cherries, with juice .
  • 2 tbsps butter, melted .
  • whipped cream (optional) .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • vanilla ice cream (optional) .
  • 3/4 tsp almond extract .
  • 1 (18 1/4 oz) box white cake mix .
  • 1 tsp red food coloring

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Grease & flour a 9x13 baking pan & set aside.
  • Step #3 Prepare cake mix according to directions on the box & pour this into prepared 9x13 pan.
  • Step #4 Mix remaining ingredients until sugar & cornstarch are dissolved.
  • Step #5 Pour or carefully spoon cherry mixture over batter.
  • Step #6 Bake for 50-60 mins.
  • Step #7 Serve topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
