Dixie Pork Chops Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tart apples, cored & sliced
  • 4 pork chops, 1 1/2 to 2-inches thick
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c hot water
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 c raisins
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp sage (optional)

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #3 Fry pork chops on each side until browned, about 3 mins per side.
  • Step #4 Transfer to a baking dish, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
  • Step #5 Cover pork chops with apple slices & sprinkle with sugar.
  • Step #6 Stir the flour into the fat in the skillet until smooth.
  • Step #7 Whisk in the water & vinegar.
  • Step #8 Simmer over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
  • Step #9 Add raisins & pour over the pork chops.
  • Step #10 Cover the baking dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
  • Step #11 Bake for 1 hr in the preheated oven.
  • Step #12 Remove the aluminum foil for the last 20 mins of cooking.
