Ingredients
1/2 tsp salt
4 eggs
2 3/4 c all-purpose flour
2 1/4 c white sugar
1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
1 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 c butter, softened
2 tsps baking soda
2 c boiling water
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step #2 Grease 3 - 9 inch round cake pans.
Step #3 In medium bowl, pour boiling water over cocoa, & whisk until smooth.
Step #4 Let mixture cool.
Step #5 Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder & salt; set aside.
Step #6 In a large bowl, cream butter & sugar together until light & fluffy.
Step #7 Beat in eggs one at time, then stir in the vanilla.
Step #8 Add the flour mixture alternately with the cocoa mixture.
Step #9 Spread batter evenly between the 3 prepared pans.
Step #10 Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 mins.
Step #11 Allow to cool.
