Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 c white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 2 tsps baking soda
  • 2 c boiling water

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Grease 3 - 9 inch round cake pans.
  • Step #3 In medium bowl, pour boiling water over cocoa, & whisk until smooth.
  • Step #4 Let mixture cool.
  • Step #5 Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder & salt; set aside.
  • Step #6 In a large bowl, cream butter & sugar together until light & fluffy.
  • Step #7 Beat in eggs one at time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #8 Add the flour mixture alternately with the cocoa mixture.
  • Step #9 Spread batter evenly between the 3 prepared pans.
  • Step #10 Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 mins.
  • Step #11 Allow to cool.
