Glazed Doughnuts Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2-4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/2 c warm water .
  • 2 eggs .
  • 3 tbsps water .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 c scalded milk .
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 2 c sifted confectioners' sugar .
  • glaze .
  • 1/3 c granulated sugar .
  • 2 (1 tbsp) packages active dry yeast .
  • 1/3 c shortening

Directions
  • Step #1 Soften yeast in 110°F warm water.
  • Step #2 Combine milk, shortening, sugar & salt.
  • Step #3 Then cool to lukewarm.
  • Step #4 Add one c of flour & beat well.
  • Step #5 Beat in softened yeast & eggs.
  • Step #6 Add enough of remaining flour to make a moderately soft dough.
  • Step #7 Mix well.
  • Step #8 Place in a greased bowl & turn to grease the surface.
  • Step #9 Cover up & chill for 3 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #10 Turn onto slightly floured surface & roll to 1/3-inch thick.
  • Step #11 Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
  • Step #12 Let rise for 30-40 mins until very light.
  • Step #13 While dough is rising, mix all ingredients of the glaze in a bowl; set aside.
  • Step #14 Fry in 375°F deep hot fat for 2 mins or until brown, Drain on paper towels & dip them into the glazing bowl while warm.
