Choco-nut Dainties Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c sugar .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1 c finely sliced walnuts or pecans .
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract .
  • 1 c butter or margarine, softened & divided .
  • 2 1/4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 2 c miniature semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Directions
  • Step #1 Beat 3/4 c butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; slowly add sugar.
  • Step #2 Add egg & vanilla, mixing well.
  • Step #3 Combine flour & salt; add to butter mixture, mixing until mixed.
  • Step #4 Stir in 1 c chocolate morsels.
  • Step #5 Shape dough into 1 1/2- x 1/2-inch logs.
  • Step #6 Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Step #7 Bake at 350F for 12 to 15 mins or until set.
  • Step #8 Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #9 Combine remaining 1 c chocolate morsels & remaining 1/4 c butter in a small heavy saucepan; cook over low heat/flame, stirring often, until chocolate melts.
  • Step #10 Dip ends of cookies into mixture, & roll in sliced walnuts.
  • Step #11 Place on wax paper until chocolate is firm.
  • Step #12 Store in an airtight container; freeze up to 6 months, if desired.
