Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • FROSTING:
  • 2 tbsps milk
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 c warm water (120 to 130 degrees F/50 degrees C)
  • 2 (.25 oz) packages quick-rise yeast
  • 6 tbsps butter, softened
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 5 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 (18.25 oz) package yellow cake mix
  • 3 c confectioners' sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, dry cake mix, mix 4 c flour, yeast & warm water until smooth.
  • Step #2 Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • Step #3 Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 5 mins.
  • Step #4 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • Step #5 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 45 mins.
  • Step #6 Punch dough down.
  • Step #7 Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half.
  • Step #8 Roll each portion into a 14-in.
  • Step #9 x 10-in.
  • Step #10 rectangle.
  • Step #11 Brush with butter; sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon.
  • Step #12 Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side.
  • Step #13 Cut each roll this into 12 slices; place cut side down in two greased 13-in.
  • Step #14 x 9-in.
  • Step #15 x 2-in.
  • Step #16 baking pans.
  • Step #17 Cover & let rise until almost doubled, about 20 mins.
  • Step #18 Bake at 400F degrees F for 10-15 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #19 Cool for 20 mins.
  • Step #20 For frosting, in a mixing bowl, cream butter, confectioners' sugar & vanilla.
  • Step #21 Add enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
  • Step #22 Frost warm rolls.
