Spoon Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps butter (melted, or very soft) .
  • 3 c milk .
  • 1 tsp baking powder .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 3 eggs (separated) .
  • 1 c cornmeal

Directions
  • Step #1 Grease 2 quart casserole, set oven to 325F degrees.
  • Step #2 Cook corn meal with 2 c of the milk until thickened.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat & add salt, butter, baking powder, & 1 c milk.
  • Step #4 Add beaten egg yolks.
  • Step #5 Fold in stiff-beaten egg whites.
  • Step #6 Bake about 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Serve in warm dishes & top this with butter.
