Custard Bread Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c water
  • 2/3 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • SAUCE:
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c raisins
  • 10 slices day-old bread, crusts removed, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 7 tbsps butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, mix eggs, sugar, milk, butter & cinnamon.
  • Step #2 Add the bread cubes & raisins; mix well.
  • Step #3 Pour into a greased 11-in.
  • Step #4 x 7-in.
  • Step #5 x 2-in.
  • Step #6 baking dish.
  • Step #7 Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-60 mins or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Step #8 In a saucepan, mix sugar, flour & water until smooth.
  • Step #9 Add butter.
  • Step #10 Bring to a boil over med-heat/flame; cook & stir for 2 mins.
  • Step #11 Remove from the heat; stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #12 Serve warm or cold over pudding.
