Scottish Shortbread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla .
  • 2 1/4 c flour .
  • 1/2 c powdered sugar .
  • 1 c butter, softened

Directions
  • Step #1 Beat together butter, sugar & vanilla until well mixed.
  • Step #2 Add flour, 1 c at a time to butter mixture.
  • Step #3 On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 - 1/2 inch thick.
  • Step #4 With a sharp knife, cut dough into 2 inch squares or cut into rounds with a cookie cutter.
  • Step #5 Place on ungreased baking sheet & prick top of cookies with a fork.
  • Step #6 Bake for 25 - 30 mins at 325F degrees until bottoms are golden brown & top is light in color.
  • Step #7 Cool on wire reacks.
  • Step #8 Store in airtight containers.
