Black-olive Paste Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb Sharp cheese
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 1/4 ts Cayenne pepper or to taste
  • 1/2 lb Margarine
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 2 c Flour
  • 2 lb Pitted dates
  • 1 lb Pecan halves

Directions
  • Step #1 Cream grated cheese & margarine together well.
  • Step #2 Have both at room temperature.
  • Step #3 Add flour, pepper & salt.
  • Step #4 Mix well.
  • Step #5 This will make a very stiff dough.
  • Step #6 Put in a cookie press.
  • Step #7 Using box plate, squeeze out in long strips.
  • Step #8 Cut 2-3 inches long.
  • Step #9 Wrap around dates which have been stuffed with pecan half.
  • Step #10 Roll in the sugar.
  • Step #11 Place on cookie sheet & bake this at 300F degrees until lightly browned.
  • Step #12 This is a Christmas must at this house.
  • Step #13 Very pretty & good.
  • Step #14 Yield: about 100.
