Breadmaker Italian Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 ts Paprika
  • 1 lb Regular firm tofu
  • 1/2 c Spice uped Italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 Egg whites; lightly beaten
  • 1/2 ts Garlic powder
  • 1/2 ts Onion powder
  • 2 tb Nutritional yeast ;

Directions
  • Step #1 These are good dipped in ketchup, low-fat tartar sauce or sweet and sour sauce.
  • Step #2 They are also good topped with grilled onions.
  • Step #3 Preheat the oven to 350?.
  • Step #4 Cut the block of tofu into 24 pieces (slice into two layers, then slicing through both, cut each into 12 pieces).
  • Step #5 In a shallow bowl, garlic powder, mix the breadcrumbs, nutritional yeast, onion powder, & paprika.
  • Step #6 Dip the sticks into the egg whites, then into the crumb mixture.
  • Step #7 Place on a nonstick or lightly oiled cookie sheet.
  • Step #8 bake this at 350? for 20 mins, turning half-way through.
  • Step #9 You can bake the sticks for up to 40 mins they will become chewier the longer they cook.
  • Step #10 Nutritional yeast (not to be confused with bakers or brewers yeast) is available at natural foods stores & some grocery stores.
